What Happens When I Engage with Protectors of Grand Central Station?

I was going to the Apple Store in Grand Central Station today during morning rush-hour when I spotted six soldiers, the supposed “Protectors Of Grand Central Station” all lined-up together, leaning casually against the wall and chatting. That’s six, all together, in one place rather than paired up in two’s and checking out different parts of the terminal, looking people over, being a presence, appearing to be diligent as though they were there for a reason. So I stopped in a sort of stupefied amazement and took a couple of photos. Then I decided to make a video so I could also make some comments. One of them spotted me and boy did they jump. 

Two of them immediately walked off toward the escalator, two walked in my direction. One of them told me I couldn’t take their picture. I asked him why he thought that in the middle of Grand Central Station, that he could tell me what I could or could not photograph. He didn’t like that too much and you can see the result. His partner, a big guy,  pulled him away and apologized. I asked if they had a C.O.  The big guy said it was him. I asked if he thought it was cool for them to be all standing around together in one place like they were on a coffee break, in the middle of the rush hour,  in the most desirable possible target for a terrorist hit in NYC. He got a very sheepish look and said, “No Sir. Won’t happen again.” We’ll see. 

Sounds messed-up right. But then upon leaving Apple, I walked out in another direction and was greeted with an even more un-nerving sight. Six police officers gathered around a circle chatting with each other without a care in the world while crowds of people steamed in and out past them. They were  just around the corner, and within a few feet of three Guardsmen in uniform. 

You can kind of get the set-up from the picture! Nine brave “Protectors” within feet of each other covering two small areas.while the vast recesses are virtually un-watched.

Who is in charge here? One cries out to ask!
